Project Overview

TOP A INDIA Contractors carried out a specialised polyurethane coating system for roof surfaces at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project. The system incorporated surface preparation, primer application, hybrid polyurethane spray coating, and a flexible polyurethane protective top coat to provide a continuous protective layer over the prepared substrate. The project quotation is dated 17 November 2022.

Project Challenge

Existing roof surfaces required thorough preparation before application of the coating system.
Sheet joints required sealing to prevent moisture penetration through vulnerable interfaces.
The exposed roof required a continuous protective coating system.
The coating system needed to provide durable protection under outdoor exposure conditions.

Our Approach & Solution / Project Scope

Prepared the existing surface through buffing, cleaning, grinding, and water-jet cleaning as required.
Sealed sheet joints using epoxy sealant and tape before application of the coating system.
Applied primer followed by a 2 mm hybrid polyurethane spray-applied coating over the prepared surface.
Applied a separate PU-based protective top coat using a two-component, aliphatic polyurethane system.

Project Results

Provided a continuous polyurethane-based protective coating system to the treated roof surfaces.
Improved protection of the substrate against moisture and environmental exposure.
Strengthened the overall protection at sheet joints and vulnerable interfaces.
Delivered a multi-layer coating system combining waterproofing and surface protection.
